B&O unveils the BeoPlay V1 TVs with a media platform and unique design that is highly customizable. The TVs will be available in 32 and 40 inch sizes in black or white. BeoPlay V1 is also the first TV released under the new B&O Play brand.

B&O PLAY has announced its first TV ever, dubbed BeoPlay V1. The TV has been designed specifically as a flexible TV solution that can fit any environment, and with promising picture quality and speakers inside.

BeoPlay V1 will be available with four mounting solutions: ceiling, wall, floor and table. For each solution, Bang & Olufsen has created a unique stand. The speaker grill is also customizable and the user can select from red, yellow, green, silver and dark blue, with more options coming later. It is easy to change at home to make it fit any room or season. BeoPlay V1 will be available in black and white; both in metal.

Great sound & a complete surround module
B&O believes that sound and picture goes hand in hand. Therefore BeoPlay V1 incorporates a unique speaker system and a complete 5.1 surround module.

BeoPlay V1 does not require external speakers and subwoofers to deliver convincing sound. B&O has aimed to develop a speaker system that far exceeds the typical flat panel TV today. Based on class D amplifier with ICEpower technology from Bang & Olufsen, the speaker system stands out as more than capable for everyday use, the company says. The steel cabinet already incorporates all the necessary sound components but if you want even more you can utilize the built-in 5.1 surround sound module and amplifier to connect BeoLab speakers and subwoofers.

BeoPlay V1 has been designed by Anders Hermansen and has its roots in classic, Scandinavian style with simple industrial aesthetics.

The cabinet is made from steel that has been painted. A speaker grill at the bottom, pressed directly into the cabinet, accompanies the clean lines. The stand, made from stainless steel, is easy to mount and rounded in all corners.

Bang & Olufsen expects a lot from the new TV concept and Tue Mantoni, CEO at Bang & Olufsen, hopes to appeal to new customer groups with a TV characterized by its flexibility, performance, design and price.

– ”BeoPlay V1’s design has been developed based on studies on how people use their TV in the home,” Tue Mantoni explains.
- ”It needs to fit the customers’ life style – not the other day around. It can hang from the ceiling; stand on the floor; on a shelf; or hang on a wall. Don’t forget that this is a Bang & Olufsen product. Even though BeoPlay V1 can suit any life style, sound and picture quality has not been compromised”

Media player & Apple TV
BeoPlay V1 is based on a LCD panel with edge LED backlight. It uses B&O’s own video platform that takes care of picture optimization, and adjusts brightness automatically according to ambient light. B&O has even integrated different color profiles, including one for movies (65K) and one for gaming.

Bang & Olufsen is also focusing on media functionality and connectivity. Besides the customizable design, BeoPlay V1 can pull content from other devices, including smartphones, tablets and PCs connected to the same home network. The TV automatically registers connected devices such as boxes, game consoles, Blu ray players, NAS servers, USB hard drives and even the Apple TV box (that has a dedicated slot on the back side of the TV). B&O also highlights an integrated music browser that lets users listen to music from both B&O products and products from other manufacturers. And the remote naturally controls everything after it has been set up via B&O’s online database.

BeoPlay V1 is available in 32 and 40 inch sizes in black and white. Included in the price is a floor stand and the Beo4 remote. The TV is available in Europe from May 2 through all Bang & Olufsen retailers, and in the rest of the world later in May. Estimated retail prices are around – converted from UK prices - $3,200 and $4,000 .
