Lady Gaga meets OLED

When Lady Gaga meets the OLED technology you get funky sunglasses. No, it's not a joke. At CES Polaroid in collaboration with Lady Gaga showcased a pair of sunglasses with built-in OLED screens that shows pictures or video to people around you.

We have repeatedly said that the OLED technologies offers many new and exciting outlooks for future products – we just didn’t exactly refer to sunglasses. Nevertheless, at CES 2011 Polaroid and Lady Gaga unveiled sunglasses with built-in OLED screens.


The OLED screens show video and pictures

The idea is that the 1.5-inch OLED screens are transparent from the inside while at the same time people around see pictures or images on the screens. The sunglasses even records video and takes pictures with a built-in camera.

The outer part of the sunglasses is removable, if you want to enjoy the pictures on the OLED screens. Data is stored on a USB stick in one of the sides. If you want to see the full presentation, watch the video below.

In the future we hope to more practical OLED based products but this will do for now. Should you for some reason be interested in buying the OLED based sunglasses, look for Grey Label Polarez G20. The price has not been revealed but it’s probably going to be ga-ga.
