The stick includes the necesary processor, memory and Wi-Fi. If you already have a Roku box the new stick adds nothing interesting but for owners of non Smart TVs, it is an excellent solution. It can even be controlled with the TV remote (through HDMI CEC).

The TV needs to support HDMI MHL, which is a new standard that uses the HDMI connector on TVs to deliver power. MHL is currently adopted by nearly 100 manufacturers, including Samsung, Sony and Toshiba.

Roku’s streaming stick will be available in the second half of 2012 and will cost between 50 and 100 USD. It will also come bundled with select TVs. Learn more at www.roku.com.
