LG teased their new 4K 3DTV ahead of CES and confirmed the launch in Las Vegas. The 84-inch Cinema 3DTV with 4K panel will be available in shops later in 2012.
LG 84LM9600 Cinema 3DTV
Many manufacturers showcased 4K panels but LG promises to bring their first 4K TV to market in 2012. It will launch as part of LG’s high-end LM9600 range with a slim design, a LED backlighting solution, and LG’s complete Smart TV platform with voice recognition and dual-core processor.

The large-format TV will incorporate LG’s Cinema 3D technology and the 4K resolution will improve 3D detailing considerably due to the way odd and even lines are utilized in the passive 3D system. A 4K resolution is four times higher than Full HD and consists of 3840x2160 pixels, around 8 million in total.

LG demonstrated the TV at their CES booth with upscaled Full HD 3D content that looked great with inexpensive polarized 3D glasses. We talked to LG about actual 4K content and LG told as that there is no widespread connector solution developed for 4K input signals so they were not able to feed the TV with 4K content. We hope this is implemented when the TV hits the market later in 2012 but even without, LG is able to improve 3D picture quality with on the 4K panel.
LG’s 84-inch TV will be called 84LM9600 in the US and 84LM960V in Europe. It will be available around June-September 2012. The price is still unconfirmed.
