According to Korean newspaper DDaily, LG is developing a 60-inch transparent and flexible OLED panel with 4K resolution. LG has received $55 million USD in funding for the project from the Korean government; a project that is said to be announced next month.

LG has still not released their 55-inch OLED-TV but according to reports the South Korean giant is already working on 4K OLED-TVs and maybe even flexible, transparent OLED panels with 4K resolution, if a new report is to be believed.

LG is already producing this flexible E-ink panel but now LG wants to produce more impressive flexible and transparent OLED panels with high- resolution

LG is said to be developing a range of different transparent and flexible OLED panels, including a 60-inch version with 3840x2160 pixel resolution – or 4K. The flexible abilities allow LG to reach a 10 cm radius of curvature and over 40 percent transparency.

LG’s project is reportedly funded partly by LG.Display and partly by the South Korean government that has contributed with $55 million US dollars. LG also beat out Samsung for funding after both companies applied for the project last year.

LG is already mass producing flexible e-ink panels and has been researching transparent OLEDs for many years. The same is true for Samsung. DDaily also reports that LG will officially announce the project next month and aim to put the displays into production. We are sure that LG is working on these technologies and that is closer than we think but next month? We believe it when we see it.
