An HBO GO app is coming to Apple TV later this year, Bloomberg reports. HBO GO is one of the services that people have been asking for since Hulu Plus was added.
HBO Go coming to Apple TV
The Apple TV box still lacks many services and Apple seems hesitant to open an App Store, similar to what is available to iPhone and iPad users. Netflix was added when the Apple TV 2 launched, and Hulu Plus was launched last year. Later this year, Apple will add HBO GO, according to Bloomberg. They claim that it will be available sometime in mid-2013.
HBO GO is coming to the Apple TV
HBO GO is available to cable TV subscribers in USA. An HBO GO app is already available for Roku’s streaming boxes and Microsoft’s Xbox 460.
HBO also recently launched into the four Nordic countries with a service called HBO Nordic that is a streaming-only TV service. HBO Nordic runs on an entirely different platform than HBO GO so it is not guaranteed that the introduction of HBO GO on Apple TV will lead to an HBO Nordic app.
Apple sold over 2 million Apple TV boxes in the last quarter.
