LeEco, owner of Vizio, has scheduled its launch event for the US market on October 19 but has accidently leaked the products on its website. The launch will include four 4K Android TVs, one of which supports Dolby Vision HDR.
Four LeEco TVs incoming
The Chinese manufacturer of consumer electronics that recently acquired Vizio will soon enter the US market with a line of own-branded phones and TVs. These products were accidently leaked on the company’s “LeMall” website over the weekend, according to website Android Headlines
It appears that four TVs will be available ranging from 43 to 85-inch sizes. The TVs will be sold under model names Super4 X43 Pro TV, Super4 X55 TV, Super4 X65 TV, and uMax 85 TV. The number refers to the size.
All four will be powered by Google’s Android TV operating system. Like many other Chinese manufacturers, LeEco has, in the past, sold TVs built on mobile Android that was never intended for the big screen, so it is good to see that the company is finally embracing Google’s operating system for the TV. The OS will be powered by a 64-bit quad-core processor.
Android TV offers access to apps such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, HBO Now, Google Play Movies & TV, and many more. It also has built-in Google Cast.
LeEco launched a streaming service in China in 2004, sometimes referred to as “China’s Netflix”. The company is also funding original content that is being offered exclusively on its devices in China. The company more than suggested that it will follow a similar strategy in the US when it acquired Vizio. In the picture above you see LeEco’s apps such as “LIVE", "Le", “Levidi”, “LeZone”, and “MyLeEco”.
4K, HDR and Dolby Vision
All four TVs appear to come equipped with 4K resolution, which is hardly a surprise in 2016.
The leaked specifications also make reference to “HDR”, presumably in the form of the HDR10 format. It is not clear if the TVs will also have the hardware to reproduce HDR.
The largest model even appears to support Dolby’s flavor of HDR, namely Dolby Vision. One of the leaked page reads “… class-leading technology including Dolby Vision, a quad-core GPU, Harman Kardon audio, and much more”.
The price highlighted in the picture appears to be a placeholder.
LeEco acquired Vizio, the largest TV manufacturer in the US, in July 2016. Vizio is already offering TVs with Dolby Vision support.
We will know more when LeEco officially announces its US line-up on October 19.
