Oppo’s UDP-203 and UDP-205 UHD Blu-ray players are the first to support the Dolby Vision HDR format. The latest beta update seemingly adds support, according to owners on AVSForum.
Dolby Vision on Blu-ray
Owners of Oppo’s UHD Blu-ray players and a Dolby Vision TV are now seeing the shiny logo in the top right corner of the screen. With the latest beta software, Oppo has seemingly added support for the premium HDR format that the company promised at launch.
However, some caveats apply. Since no UHD Blu-ray discs have been released in the format, users have only been able to confirm that it works via USB by using test files. In these cases the video clips are accepted and the TV switches to Dolby Vision mode, which also deactivates some video settings because of Dolby’s purist approach that prohibits the use of techniques such as motion interpolation.
The first discs are scheduled to arrive on June 6 with Despicable Me 1 and 2. Four Hollywood studios have committed to Dolby Vision on UHD Blu-ray. Lionsgate will release its first disc on June 27, and Sony Pictures will release its first disc on July 18.
Once these UHD Blu-ray discs with Dolby Vision become available, owners of the Oppo players will be able to confirm that Dolby Vision also works with discs. The beta software is available here. In addition, the new software adds sharpness adjustments control and fixes bugs.

Currently, LG, Loewe, TCL, Hisense, Philips (USA), and Vizio offer Dolby Vision TVs. LG has also promised Dolby Vision support for its UP970 UHD Blu-ray player but the firmware update it has yet to arrive.
