Sony sees the A95L QD-OLED as "basically a 2024 model" and is putting action behind the words by adding new 2024 features including Voice Zoom 3 and Prime Video Calibrated Mode.
Sony is not ditching OLED for miniLED for its flagship TV. Instead, it is bringing the A95L QD-OLED – introduced late in 2023 – in line with the new TV models announced earlier this week.
It is a tick-tock strategy that Sony has followed for years; only to upgrade when there are significant advancements to offer, and to offer both LCD and OLED flagship TVs. Do you remember how the famous Z9D/ZD9 LCD from 2016 carried over into 2017 and 2018, and how the A90J OLED from 2021 carried over into 2022? The same thing has happened with Z9K (8K LCD), A90K (OLED), and many other flagship TVs from Sony.
2024 features coming to A95L
Sony has confirmed to FlatpanelsHD that the key features of the new TV models, set to launch in May/June, will also be available on A95L. A95L was the first to feature Sony's new hardware platform, which is now being extended to the Bravia 9, 8, and 7 series.
- "Prime Video Calibrated Mode and Voice Zoom 3 will be added to A95L via a future firmware update. Timing is TBC," Sony confirmed to FlatpanelsHD.
Voice Zoom 3 is Sony's new highly convincing AI-based voice enhancement system (more details here) while Prime Video Calibrate Mode is described in more detail here.

A95L already features the upgraded XR processor that is now coming to Bravia 9, 8 and 7 as well as support for Dolby Vision up to 120Hz and IMAX Enhanced. Additionally, like the upcoming models, A95L will get select Crunchyroll content as part of the Sony Picture Core app.
