Dell presents 2209WA – first 22” IPS

28 Jan 2009 | Rasmus Larsen |

Dell presents their new 22-inch monitor. But this time not with one of the conventional TN panels; Dell has integrated an IPS panel of the e-IPS variant, according to their website. The monitor is therefore well suited for demanding graphic work, editing work or just for the user that expect better picture quality than the TN panels provide.

Dell’s new 22” IPS monitor is called 2209WA and has just been released in the US and on the European market.

The monitor is the first one to incorporate a 22-inch IPS panel. The 22-inch segment has so far been dominated by the inexpensive TN panels that have 6 bit colours, fast response time and narrow viewing angles. Some time ago S-PVA panels in 22 inches appeared and now also IPS variants.

The monitor aims to satisfy users working with graphic and editing, for example photographs.

Other specifications: resolution of 1680x1050 pixels and a dynamic contrast ratio of 3000:1. Viewing angles are 178/178 degrees and response time is 6 ms (g2g).
