28 Jul 2009 | Rasmus Larsen |

Philips wants to use the upcoming IFA 2009 fair in Berlin to present the third generation of their ultimate Ambilight television: Aurea.

Our Danish site, FlatpanelsDK, did a review on the first version of Philips Aurea some time ago. Since then, Philips introduced Aurea 2 and now the third generation of Aurea is coming. Philips will reveal the new Aurea TV at IFA 2009 in Berlin in September 2009.

Philips Aurea is the ultimate manifestation of Ambilight, and the third edition builds on this concept, too, but will incorporate some new technical features as well. Aurea 3 will initially launch in a 40-inch version but it is believed that other sizes will follow.

New elements include Philips Net TV, an Internet system that provides access to services such as YouTube and updates on weather and news.
Net TV also enables the user to surf the Internet from the built-in browser.

Philips new Aurea model features DLNA as well, which wirelessly streams content such as music, movies and photos directly to the screen from a PC at home on your wireless home network. It also features 5 HDMI inputs.
