What is interesting about Apple's upcoming Tablet PC from FlatpanelsHD’ss perspective, is the OLED display that Apple Tablet PC ostensibly will feature. It is LG Display that has confirmed that they have made an agreement on 9.7 inch OLED panels with Apple.

This is also supported by the fact that Apple and LG have previously concluded an agreement on OLED panels. LG has confirmed that Apple has thrown more than 500 million U.S. dollars in LG's R&D (Research & Development) OLED department. LG also says that they expect to throw around 3 billion U.S. dollars in the pot themselves over the next 18 months.

Apple Tablet PC is supposedly been released in two versions; one with a 10.6 inch LCD screen and one with a 9.7 inch OLED screen.

An OLED panel will give the Apple Tablet PC a prolonged battery time, as well as providing better picture quality with deeper blacks, wider viewing angles and fast response time. The OLED panel will also weigh less and have the potential to be much thinner than current LCD panels with LEDs today.

The Apple Tablet with OLED will be launched in the second half of 2010 according to our sources.
