The cheaper TN panels has had LED backlights for some time but now BenQ has announced three new 22-24 inch VA monitors with LED backlight. The monitors are called EW2420, VW2420H and VW2220H, and will be available soon.
BenQ VA LED monitors
The announcement of these new monitors is an interesting step. LED backlight can reduce energy consumption drastically and can ensure no backlight bleeding issues if the backlit LED system is used. BenQ does not state if they’re using backlit LED or Edge LED but we’re guessing on the latter.
The three new monitors are called EW2420 (24-inches), VW2420H (24-inches) and VW2220H (22-inches). All of the monitors have an 8-bit VA panel, 178/178 viewing angles, and a 3000:1 contrast ratio.
The VW models are equipped with DVI, HDMI and D-SUB (VGA). The EW models have 2xHDMI, DVI, D-SUB, 4xUSB, line-in, and integrated 2x1.5W speakers.
The VW2420H and EW2420 will be available in Taiwan and subsequently worldwide early mid-July and mid-August respectively; whereas the VW2220H will be available in November.
Full specifications will follow, BenQ says.
