LG has unveiled two new 3D plasma TVs in a PX950 series. The 50 inch 50PX950 and 60-inch 60PX950 are very slim at 31 mm (1.2 inches), and features Internet, DLNA, and USB media functionality. These are also LG’s first 3D plasma TVs.

We already expected LG to unveil 3D plasma TVs after Panasonic and Samsung have been ramping up their focus on 3D plasma TVs. Panasonic has the successful VT20/VT25 model available and Samsung has just released two more 3D plasma TVs.

Now the first 3D plasma series from LG is official. It’s called PX950 and LG is planning a 50-inch 50PX950 and 60-inch 60PX950. Both are a part of the Infinia design range with the Borderless design, meaning that the frame is very discreet.

PX950 has a very slim frame measuring just 31 mm (1.2 inches) in depth. PX950 also has LG’s NetCast internet functionality that lets you access services such as YouTube and Picasa. DLNA is incorporated, too, as well as a USB media port.

Finally a THX mode and a Trublack filter has been incorporated. The preliminary specs are uploaded here (PDF).

The PX950 is based on the active 3D technology which means that you need active 3D shutter glasses to enjoy the 3D movie or gaming experience. It’s not confirmed whether PX950 will have 3D glasses bundled or you need to buy these separately.

More information after IFA 2010

PX950 will be available after the consumer electronics fair IFA 2010 in Berlin this September. The new TVs will also be exhibited here so expect much more information soon.

LG also says that the TVs are shipping for USD 2500 and USD 4200, respectively.
