Panasonic and Viewster
Video-on-demand is one of the features believed to push TVs into the Smart TV era. With video-on-demand services you can rent movies from your living room couch.
Viewster coming to Panasonic’s Smart TVs
Panasonic has partnered with Viewster to bring video on demand their Smart TVs (labeled Viera Connect) in 90 countries in 16 languages. The first roll-out includes: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. Later Viewster plans to include USA, Canada, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Poland and Britain.
Viewster has a large catalogue of movies, TV shows and documentaries, as well as over 100 3D titles. Viewster also hopes to expand their presence to tablets and smartphones in the future.
Viewster will show up as an App on Panasonic’s Viera Connect TVs and on selected Blu-ray players. No date has been announced but we are guessing that we will hear more at IFA 2011 in Berlin in the beginning of September.
Viewster already exists in LG's Smart TVs in a "beta” version. Through Viewster viewers can rent movies for 2 Euro or select a monthly subscription plan for 10 Euro.
