Samsung will introduce flexible OLEDs later in 2012, and it looks like Samsung plans to call the panels “YOUM”. YOUM has already been registered as a trademark.
Flexible OLED to be called YOUM
One of the promising new trends in display technology is flexible display panels. Samsung – and LG – both plan to introduce flexible OLED panels in 2012.

Findings suggest that Samsung will call their flexible AMOLED panels YOUM. The YOUM brand was registered as a trademark in March (along with WAMOLED, FAMOLED, PAMOLED, and TAMOLED). Samsung’s own site also confirms the YOUM brand and describes the panels like this.
The YOUM panels are described as “unbreakable” due to the use of a plastic substrate. It is also thinner and lighter than traditional OLED and LCD panels. Samsung will start producing their YOUM panels later this year and the branding seems to suggest that a market introduction is nearing. The first products to utilize YOUM panels will most likely be smartphones.
