B&O to enter the Smart TV Alliance
The Smart TV alliance is a group of TV manufacturers who aim to create one unified Smart TV platform with TV apps that work across TV brands. The alliance already has support from LG, Philips, Sharp, Toshiba and Loewe. Today, most TV manufacturers have developed proprietary Smart TV platforms which make it difficult for developers and media companies to develop apps and services.
Bang & Olufsen is entering the Smart TV alliance, it is said
The Smart TV partners hope to grow a rich selection of video-on-demand services, games, educational services and more. They also hope to create a living room eco system that connects to other smart devices in the home such as iOS, Android and Windows smartphones and tablets.
Business.dk says that B&O is planning to join the alliance and is planning to release one or more TV products with the Smart TV platform built-in - with a unique B&O feel. Business.dk cites deputy director at B&O, Jan McNair, who allegedly has shared information.
FlatpanelsHD has reached out for an official comment from B&O but they have no comments regarding the plans.
