Panasonic joins LG, Philips, Toshiba and Bang & Olufsen, and enters the Smart TV alliance. This means that the same TV apps will work on all the TVs. IBM has also joined.

Panasonic developed its own Smart TV alliance a few years ago and it have been implemented in TVs up to 2012. From 2013, Panasonic will join the Smart TV alliance.

Panasonic owners will now have access to new TV apps developed for the alliance Smart TVs at the same time as all other TV manufacturers. This will probably mean a wider selection and faster apps releases.

The Smart TV platform is also updated with the 2013 models. Developers will ahve more updated tools and users will expereience smoother streaming and better 3D streaming, the alliance claims.

ABOX42, TechniSat, IBM and Specific Media also join the alliance. LG, Toshiba, Philips, and Bang & Olufsen are already in.
