Microsoft has confirmed that users can start playing Xbox One games while they download. The system will eliminate the tiresome waiting time while installing games from discs and downloading games online.
Play Xbox One games while they download
Sony was early to announce that you can start enjoying games shortly after pressing the download button on PlayStation 4, and Sony even implemented a test version of the system on PlayStation 3 for the launch Last of Us.
With Xbox One you can start playing games while they download
Until now, Microsoft had only confirmed something similar for disc-based games but has now also confirmed that it will work for games downloaded from its online store. It practically means that you can start enjoying the game shortly after the download process has started.
The system works by downloading and installing the first and most essential part of the game first. After, the rest of the game will download and install in the background while playing. Sony and Microsoft have not released the exact details of the technology and we do not know how much of the game you need to pull down before being able to start. Sony’s PlayStation 3 test requires that 50% of the game has been downloaded.
Microsoft's Xbox One will be available on most markets before year’s end. Learn more about the Xbox One here.
