Amazon hopes to create a big TV streaming service. Amazon Instant has gained momentum in recent months, and they have, like Netflix, started producing original TV series. Starting in 2014, all shows will be shot in 4K resolution, says Amazon.
Amazon wants to stream in 4K
Netflix has seen incredible success with TV series such as House of Cards. Amazon has yet to hit jackpot, but they are ambitious. Amazon Instant is only available in the US currently, but could expand to more in the coming years. Amazon also owns Lovefilm.
Starting in 2014, all original TV series, drama and comedy, will be shot in 4K resolution, confirms Amazon. Among the new shows are five comedy and drama series, including The After by the man who created X-Files. Amazon plans to release the pilot episode and let viewers vote. The best-rated shows will continue.
- "We think customers are going to love watching these series in the highest resolution ever available to consumers, and we can't wait to deliver it,” said Roy Price, director at Amazon Studios.
