Bang & Olufsen will launch a major new product this Thursday, May 8. Ahead of the launch event, B&O has decided to discontinue two TVs; the BeoVision 12 plasma TV and the 32” BeoPlay V1, according to recordere.dk
B&O kills BV12 and BeoPlay V1-32
BeoVision 12 is Bang & Olufsen’s high-end TV. It is a 65-inch plasma TV, but after Panasonic decided to pull the plug on plasma TV, B&O is left without a panel supplier. This also means that Bang & Olufsen has sold its last plasma TV.
The inexpensive Beoplay V1 will remain available on the market as a 40-inch version, but the smaller 32-inch version called BeoPlay V1-32 will be discontinued. Bang & Olufsen explains that demand for small-size TVs has dropped dramatically and 40-inch TVs are standard in secondary rooms today.
Bang & Olufsen also recently discontinued the BeoVision 10, 7 and 4 TVs. Lastly, B&O will discontinue the Playmaker streaming box for music streaming. The small device will be replaced by the new Essence, which can do the same and much more.
