Netflix demonstrates VR on Oculus Rift

21 Aug 2014 | Rasmus Larsen |

Facebook wants the film industry to take a look at the Oculus Rift, so Netflix has done just that. They have developed a virtual reality interface that you can control by looking around and moving your hands.

But still just a concept

The concept was demonstrated during Netflix’s Hack Day that also revealed some other weird concepts.

There are no plans to release or implement any of the concepts, but the "Oculix" user interface still provides a fun glimpse into what the future of virtual entertainment could look like. You can also read our in-depth Oculus Rift DK review here.

The Hack Day also brought forward several other concepts, including an alternative "Circle of Life" interface, “Nerdflix”, Philips Hue Ambilight integration, and "Dropflix". Below you see the Philips Hue integration.
