LG is already selling curved OLED TVs, but this is the first curved LCD model. The UC970 is launched in 55 and 65 inch sizes with Ultra HD resolution and the webOS platform.

By now, almost every major TV manufacturer has at least one curved model in the line-up. UC970 is LG’s plan to offer choice to the market place, and also the first model in its line-up to combine Ultra HD and the curve.

The TVs come with LG’s new webOS platform, controlled with the motion-enabled Magic Remote. LG is trying to take Smart TVs into the next phase with webOS that was introduced earlier this year by offering a simple and intuitive user interface based on “cards” that pop up from the bottom of the screen. LG is also highlighting a more powerful speaker system built in collaboration with Harman Kardon.

Since it is an Ultra HD TV, LG has implemented a HDMI 2.0 port for connecting 4K players as well as HEVC decoding, which is required to stream for example Netflix in 4K. Other features include passive 3D (Cinema 3D) and playback of local media files.

LG UC970 is available now in Europe and the Middle East in 55 and 65 inch models called 55UC970V and 65UC970V. There are currently no details regarding a US launch.
