Samsung to launch new quantum dot & UHD monitors in "early 2017"

The Korean company will several new monitors in “early 2017”. It is expanding its line-up of quantum dot-based monitors with CH711 and UH750. Also coming are the "bezel-less" SH850 as well as CF397 and CH580.

CH711 is for gamers

Samsung is expanding its line-up of PC monitors that utilize quantum dot technology. This technology can expand the color gamut, specifically to “nearly 125 percent sRGB” in the case of CH711.

CH711 will be available in 27 and 31.5” models designed with gamers in mind. It has a curved design, 2560x1440 resolution, AMD FreeSync, a flicker-free LED backlight, 3000:1 contrast ratio, and a sleek white design. Samsung has made an effort to hide the power and HDMI cables inside the stand’s neck.

- “Today’s multimedia consumers, quite rightly, have high expectations and demand a truly cutting edge, totally immersive experience that realizes the full potential of whatever they are playing or watching,” said Seoggi Kim, Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business. “This year’s line-up of curved Quantum Dot monitors offers brilliant design, richer color and deeper contrast than ever before.”

In 2016, Samsung launched its first monitors with quantum dot technology; the CFG70 and CF791 models. These two gaming monitors will remain available in 2017.



Samsung UH750 and SH850

In addition to the CH711, Samsung also announced the 28” UH750 and the 24 and 27” SH850 models at CES 2017.

The UH750 monitor “combines Samsung’s gamer-friendly features with an ultrafast 1 m/s response time, Quantum Dot picture display and high-quality UHD resolution, all housed within a slim, narrow-bezel design”.

The 24 and 27” SH850 monitors “deliver WQHD resolution and DP daisy chain connectivity through a flat, three-sided, bezel-less design with a square base and stylish exterior to suit any home or office. The SH850 monitors also feature a height-adjustable stand and pivot, with tilt and swivel capabilities for optimal viewing comfort”.

These models will also be available in “early 2017”. No pricing details were announced.

In addition we spotted a few other monitors at Samsung’s CES booth. CF397 is a curved 32” monitor with 4ms response time and AMD FreeSync, designed for gaming.

CH580 is a 27” curved monitor with the same 4 ms response time and AMD FreeSync. It utilizes “active crystal” technology to reach 120% sRGB coverage.
