Loewe's new compact soundbar is designed for smaller TVs. It boasts Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and can be expanded to a 5.1 system wired or wirelessly.

The German maker of TV and AV products is expanding its soundbar line-up to include both the existing 'Klang bar 5 mr' and the new more compact 'Klang bar 3 mr'. 

These will compete with the likes of Sonos, LG, Samsung and Sony's soundbar line-ups. However, note that Loewe's Klang bar 3 is somewhat wider than other compact soundbars on the market. It is also more expensive.

- "Equipped with seven front-firing speakers and two built-in subwoofers, the mighty 3.1 klang bar3 mr with Dolby Atmos delivers 360 watts of German engineered natural sound. For a more comprehensive set up, the mighty soundbar can be extended to a 5.1 set up with connectivity to Loewe’s range of multiroom speakers as well as any modern or classic active speaker," the company said in its announcement.

Expandable to 5.1 surround
If you want to expand the system, it connects wirelessly to compatible Loewe speakers that support 'Loewe Wireless Digital Audiolink'. It also connects via wires to active speakers from others brands, as it comes with an integrated 5.1 receiver. The company says that it supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

You can use it for music too with the built-in multiroom support for Apple AirPlay 2, Chromecast and DTS Play-Fi. In addition, it features 3 HDMI ports, eARC, 4K pass-through and an optical input (Toslink).

Loewe's Klang bar 3 will be available in Europe this month from authorized retailers with a recommendation retail price of £999 / €999.
