Hi there,

I got a Panasonic G20E (46") and a MacMini as media center connected via HDMI.

When I surf the internet and mute the TV there is always an annoying background noise, especially when the webpage contains large white areas (as for instance when writing this mail) and the noise comes on and off if I maximize and minimize a webpage, respectively

I have used the (calibration) settings from the very informative G20 review.

Is this something you have noticed and if, can it be avoided at all ?

The noise is often referred to as plasma buzz. Unfortunately this is a problem with some plasma TVs but it also varies a lot. You might have been unlucky. Our G20 test sample had some very minor buzzing but I could only hear it if from the back of the TV when I moved very close to it.

Buzzing is often louder on white screens because a white requires full brightness from all three sub pixels in the plasma panel.

You could try to contact Panasonic.
