Some of the major players have started testing AV1.

Starting spring 2019, we will start confirming whether or not TVs support AV1 format during our reviews.

Just a quick update here. Still no AV1 compatibility in any of the TVs that we have tested. I hear from people involved that they expect AV1 hardware decoding to show up in at least some TVs sometime in 2020.

Samsung has joined the AV1 group, which I see as an indicator that 2020 Samsung TVs may support AV1 decoding.
