I wonder when there will be 4K computer monitors. Intel Ivy Bridge chips and new graphics cards have support for 4K. 4K manufacturing should not be a problem now when Ipad has 3 million pixels and 2K laptops are readily available. 4K monitor @34" would be just matching their resolution.

The question is thus if manufacturers are preparing 4K monitors to launch or not?

I spoke to a few people from the panel industry recently, and they definitely see higher-resolution displays coming out in the next few years. However, they stressed that issues such as poor OS-scaling, too slow display connectors and the large installed base without capable graphic cards are limiting the market potential right now.
