'Avatar: The Way of Water' is now available on Apple TV, Prime Video, Vudu

Avatar: The Way of Water, the third highest-grossing film of all time, is now available to buy in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on online TVOD services.
Update: The movie is now also available to buy in many parts of Europe and elsewhere.
Disney has decided to release the 20th Century Studios-produced movie in the TVOD (transactional video-on-demand) window before making it available on Disney+ (SVOD). This is a departure from the strategy during covid, but it is unclear if it is part of a general strategy change or exclusive to the release of very expensive and more than 3-hour long Avatar: The Way of Water.

It is available now in the US as a purchase for $19.99. There is no option to rent it yet. TVOD services include Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu, and others. Only Apple and Vudu promote it as being available to stream in 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. The aspect ratio is 1.85. Some services include bonus content (see table at the bottom). There is no option to experience it in HFR (High Frame Rate). The 48fps 3D version is so far exclusive to theaters, but Kim Beresford, VP of Motion Pictures Operations at Walt Disney Studios, recently said to the Hollywood Reporter that "I think there are roadmaps … even if that might not be available today," referring to a HFR home release. Avatar: The Way of Water will also soon be available as a TVOD home release in other regions.
