One step closer to reality, LG Electronics at CES 2023 exhibited the 'OLED T', a transparent OLED TV that with a 'black mode' that can transform it into a more conventional display.
It is still a concept and imagined as a 'lifestyle' product for modern living spaces.
- "The transparent glass screen of the transparent OLED screen provides a sense of openness, while its bentwood base brings an element of the natural world indoors. Setting itself apart from conventional TVs, the screen matches any interior style and can be placed wherever the user wishes, even in the middle of the living room or right in front of a window," said LG Electronics.

Transparent mode & black mode
It has two modes; 'transparent mode' and 'black mode'. The OLED panel itself is transparent with a metal frame around it. Engaging black mode "slides up" a sort of black canvas – not mechanic – behind the TV for movie watching and gaming.
Our friends from Denmark over at Rec.dk managed to capture the transition from transparent black mode to black mode on video:
In transparent mode it has a gallery function with aquarium, fire, raindrops and other animated art themes.
LG has not announced plans to introduce a transparent OLED TV on the consumer market. Ahead of CES, a Korean report said that LG is still considering whether to launch it and if it happens it will not launch until 2024 at the earliest.
