TCL's next-gen flagship TV could feature over 14000 zones, 6500 nits

After launching a flagship with more than 5000 dimming zones and 5000 nits peak brightness, TCL is preparing a next-generation miniLED LCD TV with over 14,000 dimming zones and 6500 nits.

The launch in China typically precedes the launch in Europe and North America, giving us a good idea of what to expect next from TCL, which in recent years has overtaken Samsung to become the leading innovator in miniLED LCD technology.

The company's new flagship is called X11H in China and features 14,112 miniLED dimming zones in 98 inches and 10,368 zones in 85 inches. Both can boost to 6500 nits peak brightness, according to the company, which claims that the new miniLED backlight is 40% more energy-efficient than a normal miniLED backlight.

Despite the advanced miniLED backlight, the TV is as thin as a tablet and the miniLED zones now have zero latency to the LCD panel, according to the press material. It is a still a 4K VA LCD panel with a 144Hz maximum refresh rate.

TCL X965 and QM852G?

If the TV makes its way to Europe and North America, we would expect it to be a successor to the current X955 (Europe) / QM851G (America), which features 5,184 dimming zones and over 5000 nits peak brightness, as confirmed in FlatpanelsHD's first-look article with measurements. It may be known as X965 and QM852G, but that remains to be seen.
